It's time for me to share a gift idea with you ...

Several years ago I bought a closing gift for a customer after I'd seen it at a booth at the REALTOR's convention in Atlantic City.It was called a "Sundance replica" and was an "ornament", hand crafted and hand painted, made from a photograph of a property.

A few months later I called to order another, but the company had closed down. I tried to find similar vendors online and came up empty. Not being ready to give up, I called the owner of the company and, after negotiations, I became an owner of Sundance Replicas and began production of replicas in 2007 while working full time as a REALTOR in Ocean City.

My original intent was to find a manufacturer to produce replicas for MY customers, but we kept the website active and I keep rather busy "in my spare time" creating replicas for customers world-wide.

We don't advertise much since there's only two of us creatuing the replicas - it allows us to keep a sharp watch on quality control and keep the overhead manageable.

I changed the format of the replica, they're thicker now and stand on a table, shelf or moulding and have more detailed painting on the edges.

It seems to be a hit with REALTORS and non-REALTORS alike - they're great as closing gifts, after-closing stop by gifts, closing anniversary gifts or just plain gifts.

We have a few historic homes that we create as well and make contributions to restoration and preservation, just our way of giving something back.

I guess I sound like a commercial, "I liked the idea so much I bought the company", but that's what happened. Every replica has a story to tell, and I'm launching a blog soon to tell some of the stories, but it'll have to wait until the holidays, all my spare time is going into painting, cutting, sanding ...
